New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam attended official welcome in New Delhi on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Yam walked along a red carpet and stood under a red canvas as a military band played the Singapore and national anthem. On his arrival at the presidential palace, he was welcomed by President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After brief pleasantries, Yam took the salute and inspected the guard of honour. Yam arrived in national capital on Sunday on a four-day-visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Singapore President arrives in India for state visit

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam arrived in New Delhi for a four-day-visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During his visit, President Yam is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. President Yam, who is accompanied by his wife Mary Tan, will also inaugurate an exhibition at the national museum in New Delhi. He will leave the country on February 11. Terrorism needs to be tackled with global cooperation, says President Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee said the international community needs to assert itself and tackle terrorism by taking concerted, coordinated and determined action. Addressing the sixth conference of Ambassadors and High Commissioners in New Delhi, the President recalled the horrific killings of innocent hostages in Syria, the attack on the media in Paris and the tragic killing of school children and their teachers in Peshawar, Pakistan. Calling terrorism an industry of evil, Mukherjee said that it was not just a threat to peace and security but an attack on humanity as a whole and civilization.
