Omar Abdullah offers solace to migrants displaced due to unprovoked firing by Pak along J and K bord

Jammu, Oct 10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited migrants displaced in the intensified cross-border firing between India and Pakistan as they sought shelter far from homes. A total of nine Pakistani and eight Indian civilians have been killed since fighting erupted more than a week ago along a 200-km (125-mile) stretch of border in the disputed region of Kashmir. Abdullah said that the government is trying its best to help the migrants. India's Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has accused Pakistan of making unprovoked attacks on Indian-controlled Kashmir and threatened heavy retaliation. While visiting migrants seeking shelter in a school in Kathua district in the city, Abdullah told mediapersons, that the migrants have demanded small one-room houses far from border areas to escape cross-border firing in future. Suspected militant guide arrested in Kashmir

Poonch, Oct 09 (ANI): Police apprehended a suspected militant guide who acted as an over ground worker (OGW)on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The man arrested has been identified as Wali Mohammed, a 65-year-old resident of Qasba village on the Indian side of the LoC. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Poonch District, Shamsheer Hussain said that the police will only be able to ascertain the associations of Mohammed after thorough interrogation. Mohammed is said to have crossed over the LoC in 2012 and then again he crossed over to the Indian side to return to his native Qasba village. About 7,000 villagers living around the village of Arnia area in Kashmir gathered in schools after five civilians were killed and dozens injured in shelling by Pakistani forces close to the border on Monday. Meanwhile, villagers from Samba region also fled their homes after cross-border firing started on Tuesday evening.
