Nato: We do not want a new Cold War

Nato does not see or want a new Cold War, its Supreme Allied Commander said on 13 February, in response to remarks by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. General Philip Breedlove told reporters at the Munich Security Conference that Minister Medvedev is entitled to his opinion. Syria: More foreign troops could enter conflict if talks fail

Major powers agreed on 12 February to a pause in combat in Syria, but Russia pressed on with bombing in support of its ally President Bashar al-Assad, who vowed to fight until he regained full control of the country.
