Climate change caused Kashmir's flood fury: Environmentalists

New Delhi, Sept 11 (ANI): Environmentalists Sunita Narayan and Chandra Bhushan said that climate change caused Jammu and Kashmir's flood fury and heaviest rainfall in half a century. Environmentalist Sunita Narain said as Himalayas being the young mountainous range, extreme rains will give rise to huge amount of siltation followed by landslides. She added that even the posh areas in Kashmir have been worst hit due to floods because the domestic colonies were built in the low-lying areas where residential buildings should not been built. Environmentalist Chandra Bhushan said as per the research of past ten years the extreme rainfall events in India will increase due to climate change. Sep 11, 2014

Air India has put 2 special flights in Kashmir: Civil Aviation Minister on JandK floods

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): Minister of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, on Tuesday said that the Central Government is trying its best to control effects of flood in Jammu and Kashmir. Raju said that Air India has put two special flights in Srinagar to speed up rescue work in the state.
