Mumbai, Aug 5 (ANI): Bollywood actress, Rani Mukerji, along with director Pradeep Sarkar and script writer Gopi Puthran promoted her upcoming drama film, 'Mardaani', in India's entertainment capital, Mumbai recently. 'Mardaani', which means manly, revolves around a senior police inspector, played by Rani, who unearths human trafficking racket. While promoting the movie, she said that the film was relevant in today's times and after watching it, every woman will feel empowered. Meanwhile, she also said that queen of Jhansi, who was one of the leading figures to drive out British East India Company, inspired her and was a symbol of women empowerment. Authorities in Siliguri take preventive measures to tackle Japanese encephalitis

Siliguri /Vadodara, July 24 (ANI): Health department in West Bengal took preventive measures to tackle Japanese encephalitis as 83 cases of the disease have been detected in the region. An outbreak of encephalitis syndrome is playing havoc near Siliguri district of the state. Following the increase of deaths, the district administration conducted a meeting with several departments to tackle the situation. Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) is spreading bleaching powders, conducting fogging at the piggeries and holding awareness campaigns. Sanitary Inspector from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Sunil Sarkar, said that they have identified the piggeries, given notice to vacant the places. Meanwhile, Gujarat also witnessed death of four children due to Chandipura virus in last 24 hours. MoU signed to boost up power capacity without additional fuel consumption in north-east

Agartala, July 23 (ANI): India’s North East Power Corporation (NEEPCO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) to upgrade three power projects in Tripura. Two power projects – Baramura gas thermal power project and Rukhia gas thermal power plant – will be converted into combined cycle in order to raise power capacity without increasing the fuel consumption. The other Dumbur hydro power project will undergo renovation to increase its power generation capacity. Chairman-cum-managing Director of NEEPCO, PC Pankaj, said this MoU will prove very beneficial as more power will be generated without increasing the tariff. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar. The cost will be borne by both NEEPCO and TSECL. Jul 23, 2014

Rani Mukerji launches first look of 'Mardaani'

Mumbai, June 25 (ANI): Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji who is all set to make her much-awaited comeback with a Yash Raj film launched the first look of her upcoming film Mardaani in Mumbai. The movie, which deals with the issue of child sex trafficking, will be her first post marriage film. The actress reportedly underwent an extensive training session to learn different techniques of Krav Maga, an Israeli martial art and self-defence system, as she is portraying the character of a strong female cop in the film. Mukerji, who played a courageous journalist in her last 'No One Killed Jessica' in 2011, believes in sending across a strong message through her all films. 250 Bangladeshi Buddhist, Hindu tribals seek refuge in India after ethnic violence

Tripura, June 05 (ANI): Over 250 Bangladeshi tribal, mostly Buddhists and Hindus, fled their villages along the international border and crossed over to India's northeastern Tripura state, seeking refuge after ethnic clashes with non-tribal Muslims in their country. The Chakma and Tripuri tribes left their villages in Khagrachari district of Bangladesh and took shelter in Tripura's Gandachara area on Thursday. The exact reason for the violence has not been identified yet, said authorities. However, efforts are being made by the state government to repatriate Bangladeshi tribal. Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said the tribals from Chittagong Hill Track of Bangladesh have taken shelter in the state after worsening of law and order situation in their villages.
