Katra, Nov 10 (ANI): Women in Katra district of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the 10th Rustum e Hind Indian style wrestling competition to promote gender equality. The organiser of the competition, Shiv Kumar, said that women should participate equally as men, especially in wrestling. Kumar further said that wrestling competitions should be conducted at every level with camps and proper coaching facilities so that more women take up this game. Meanwhile, the women wrestlers were happy and wanted more such competitions in future. The bi-annual practice of shifting the 'Darbar' (Secretariat) between the two capital cities of the state dates back to the 19th century. The government operates from Srinagar during summers and from Jammu in winters. It is estimated that the whole exercise of relocating offices costs the government crores of rupees every year. Amritsar, Nov 10 (ANI): India's Border Security Force postponed the Day Tourism at Wagah border in Punjab which was scheduled to kick off from November 10, after a suicide bomb attack killed scores of people on the Pakistani side last Sunday. At least 60 people were killed and 110 wounded when the explosion ripped through a car park about 500 metres (yards) from Pakistan's border gate just as hundreds of people left the daily performance. The plan for Day tourism was for tourists who reach early at the Wagah border and the security forces were to give them a tour of the area since the main ceremony is held in the evening. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), MF Farooqui said that the new activity would need elaborate security for the crowd that was expected to turn up for the day tourism. The assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in five-phases, beginning on November 25 and ending on December 20. The counting of votes will take place on December 23. As a part of back-up, extra forces have arrived in Poonch on Sunday (November 09), in wake of the cross border firing to ensure safety and fair elections to be held on 2nd December. Uri, Nov 09 (ANI): A 22 year girl and a soldier were killed in Uri sector of Kashmir as Pakistan rangers and Indian army exchanged fire in a fresh ceasefire violation. Village head Syed Mir Hussain said that the girl has been identified as Gulshan Bano, who died in the hospital after sustaining serious injury in the firing. India has, for years, accused Pakistan of backing separatist Muslim rebels in India's part of Kashmir. The BRO Ganderbal district, have initiated the construction of road surface with macadam and plan to complete it before the snowfall as harsh weather conditions damage the roads and cause difficulties for commuters. The site engineer of BRO, Chander Shekhar said that the road has a lot of pot holes, which can be dangerous for drivers and can cause accidents. Authorities said that the traffic flow on the road is increasing day by day as every year thousands of tourists visit the district and also pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra use this road to reach their destination. Qazigund, Nov 09 (ANI): At least two personnel of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in a militant attack in Qazigund town of Kashmir’s Kulgam district, said police. The militants escaped taking advantage of darkness, added police. They also said search operations had been launched in the area to nab the assailants. The injured troopers were shifted to a nearby medical facility. The militants also opened fire at the bus in which the CRPF personnel were traveling. India has been bolstering its defences along the de facto border with Pakistan, fearing militant groups fighting the US-led coalition in Afghanistan will turn their energies to Kashmir, where it is trying to end a 25-year insurgency.
