Srinagar, Nov 26 (ANI): Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday that the voting process in the state went peacefully for the first phase. He also thanked the voters for coming out and voting in large numbers. He further stressed on the fact that media should not present voting in Jammu and Kashmir as a loss of militants and separatists as it gives them an incentive to fail the media and act outrageously. Talking about the issues between India and Pakistan, Abdullah said that the Jammu and Kashmir people as well as government want the issue to be solved through dialogue process but added that it depends on the leaders of the two nations. New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): The Election Commission on Tuesday briefed about the voter turnout in the first election phase of Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir. Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed voter turnout of nearly 70% which is more than the previous Assembly Polls. Minor explosion outside polling station in J and K

Bandipore, Nov 25 (ANI): A minor explosion took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipore district on Tuesday morning reportedly. Security officials say that it was a very low intensity blast in a rocky terrain of the district, and added that there were no casualties so far. In the wake of the blast, the security drill in the district has been tightened, given that the first phase of assembly elections in the state is currently on. The DIG of North Kashmir, Ghulam Hassan Butt said that there was no need to panic. Meanwhile, about 20 percent voting was reported in the state till a little after 10 a.m. this morning. Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 25 (ANI): The polling for the first phase in the Assembly Elections of Jammu and Kashmir began on Tuesday as people queued outside polling booths to caste their votes. About 400 companies of security forces have been deployed to ensure free and fair polls in the first phase of the assembly elections. Residents lined up outside the polling booths to exercise their franchise fighting the extreme cold weather as they hoped for better governance in the state. Of the 15 Assembly seats going to polls on Tuesday, 11 segments of Chenab valley and North Kashmir were highly militancy infested areas and some of them still have militant influx. A total of 10,502,50 voters, including 5,00,539 women, will decide the fate of 12 sitting MLAs, including seven ministers among 123 candidates at 1,900 polling stations in 15 constituencies. Indian Army recovers huge cache of arms and ammunition ahead of JandK polls

Srinagar, Nov 24 (ANI): Indian army recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday ahead of assembly election. The five-phase polls in Jammu and Kashmir will begin on November 25 and will end on December 20. The results are scheduled to be announced on December 23. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Kashmir-Based 15 Corps of Indian Army, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha said that linkage between recovery of large consignment of the weapon and the ceasefire violations cannot be ruled out. Saha assured that collectively all the security forces including Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were keeping a tight vigil at the polls related security. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars. Baramulla, Nov 23 (ANI): Army personnel on Sunday recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout in forest area in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Major MK Chaitanya, the security personnel had been receiving inputs for the past two and a half months about the movement of militants in woods in the district. On Sunday, after receiving a specific input, with the assistance of Special Operations Group (SOG), an elite anti-insurgency force of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the weapons were seized.
