Tetseo sisters from Nagaland popularize Naga folk music

Nagaland, Oct 5 (ANI): Meet the Tetseo sisters! One of the most popular female bands from Nagaland. They sing songs known as "Li" (folksong) in the Chokri dialect of the Chakhesang tribe of Nagaland that tells stories of Naga people, their joys and sorrows, hopes and aspirations. They started practicing music in their school days and have not looked back since then. They specialize in folk music and aim to keep it alive among the youth. The Tetseo Sisters comprise four siblings – Mercy, Azi, Kuvelü and Lulu. The sisters released their first album of acoustic songs called "Li" Chapter One "The Beginning" in 2011. During their performance they use age-old Naga string instrument known as "Tati or Heka Libuh". They have performed in different places across the country and abroad. Tangkhul Naga Community welcomes freshers to Delhi

New Delhi/ Nagaland, Sep 24 (ANI): College admissions are over and it's time to welcome the freshers. Under the theme of 'Emerging Youths, Emerging Talents' Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Delhi (TKLD) organized the 11th edition of "Yarthot Kazip" or fresher's meet at Thyagaraj stadium. Music, dance and fashion parade - the fun filled affair was attended by many Tangkhul Naga community and students. The celebrations not only aimed at making freshers comfortable but also were meant to introduce them to their seniors and others Nagas residing in the national capital. MP from Nagaland Neiphiu Rio also addressed the event. A group of Student performed the Tangkhul folk song in colorful traditional attire. During the event many young artists showcased their talent in singing and dancing. The audience was mesmerized by their performance. Later, Music bands like Epistles, Towering Faith and Red Light Passengers gave rocking performances. "Epistle" a Country, Pop & Gospel music band enthralled the audience by performing songs in Tangkhul and English. A huge crowd enjoyed the performance and sang along with them. Sep 24, 2014

United Naga Council in Manipur lifts ban on National projects and Traffic

Manipur, Sept 12 (ANI): The civil organization, United Naga Council (UNC), in Manipur on Friday lifted its indefinite ban on national projects in the state and on vehicular traffic on national highways. The UNC had called for a shutdown from 6 am in Ukhrul district on September 04 to protest against the killings of two civilians, Mayopam Ramror and VS Ramkasing by security forces. An expert, Professor Amar Yumnam, said that the state government imposed 144 CrPC in such a way that it jeopardized the situation. An Inter State Bus operator, Aswinikumar Singh, said that they incurred huge loss due to the ban. Sep 12, 2014
