NCP leader Majid Memon said that unlike PM Modi, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was mature and fair. New Delhi, Nov 30 (ANI): ‘Insurgence to Resurgence’ was the theme of the 2nd edition of the “Northeast Festival - Connecting People, Celebrating life”, at the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts in New Delhi. The 4-day long cultural extravaganza was organised by Trend MMS, with support from the eight northeastern states, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of DoNER and the Northeast Community, Delhi. Sportspersons from the northeast who won medals at the recent Commonwealth and Asian games were felicitated at the inaugural session. Leaders, policy makers and various stakeholders came together for discussion sessions on critical issues including tourism, employment, business opportunities and investment in IT sector in Northeast. Fashion designers from the region put together a vibrant show showcasing the traditional weaving patterns, rich colorful fabrics and jewelry worn by the numerous tribes of the Northeast. Security forces recover huge cache of arms and ammunitions in Kashmir

Doda, Nov 29 (ANI): Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday (November 29). The security forces busted a militant hideout from where an AK-47 rifle, 12 bore guns, grenades and ammunitions were recovered. Last week also Indian army had recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of the state before the assembly elections began. Reportedly, minimum temperatures in Srinagar remained below zero degrees Celsius. The northern state witnessed worst flooding in September in which hundreds were killed and marooned. Rajouri, Nov 29 (ANI): Snowfall in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir slowed down traffic and hit visibility on the arterial Mughal Road that connects the valley with rest of the country. Snowfall in Pir ki Gali in Rajouri district dropped temperatures as the Meteorological Department, had predicted snowfall in the higher reaches of the state. Residents are worried that the continuous snowfall will block the Mughal road, which will affect businesses and tourist movement. The road brings Poonch and Rajouri district in the state closer to the summer capital, Srinagar in Kashmir valley. Search operation continues amid fresh firing in J and K

Arnia, Nov 28 (ANI): The Indian army said on Friday that the search operations are still on amid fresh firing in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier in the day, fresh firing erupted in the town of Arnia and search operation was tightened to look for militant hideouts after gunmen wearing army uniforms on Thursday (November 27) attacked an army base near the border with Pakistan, leaving ten people dead in the worst militant violence in more than a year. Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO), Manish Mehta said the search operation is still continuing to look for the hiding militant. There were four militants out of whom three were killed, and one is missing. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation to track down the hiding militant and retrieve the bodies of civilians killed in the gun battle, the PRO informed. The family members of the missing civilians are visiting the district hospital, presuming their loved ones to be the victim of the firing.
