Rajouri/ Soura, Dec 05 (ANI): Six militants were killed in the gun battle that lasted for several hours in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The militants cut through a wire fence around the small artillery camp and then fired rocket-propelled grenades at the security force men in their bunkers. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that Pakistan should try to stop militant attacks or ask for help from India if it is unable to do so. Five members of the security forces were killed in a suicide attack on an army artillery camp in Kashmir early on Friday as militants stepped up violence in the disputed region near the border with Pakistan, officials said. Qamar Agha said Pakistan was desperate to promote Islamic militancy in the state. Hundreds of Kashmiri youth attend Indian army recruitment rally

Budgam, Dec 05 (ANI): Hundreds of youth, on Friday attended an army recruitment rally in Jammu and Kashmir. Around 9,000 youths participated in the rally, which was held in Budgam district. On the final day of the recruitment rally, written examination was conducted. After physical and medical tests, only 540 were allowed to give the written exam. A local youth, Mushtaq Ahmed, said employment was a major reason for them to attend the rally. A recruitment officer, Brigadier Adil Mehmood, said this recruitment rally gave employment opportunities in the valley, which was hit by devastating floods in September. Unemployment is a major issue in the conflict-torn region of Kashmir. During the election rallies in the poll-bound state, every political party has promised youth of employment. Dec 5, 2014

The attack by the militants is ongoing as firing continues in the Uri sector of the district. Meanwhile earlier on Thursday, unidentified militants hurled a grenade at the house of apolitical leader_s relative in Jammu and Kashmir. The ill-fated house belonged to Bashir A Wahi, who is relative of People_s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tariq Hameed Karra, in Srinagar. Security forces immediately rushed to the place and cordoned off the area. Nobody was injured in the attack.
