Sonia, Rahul Gandhi visit flood ravaged Kashmir

Anantnag, Sep 29 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi assured support to flood victims during their visit to the state of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday (September 29). Sonia and her son Rahul also interacted with the flood victims in Anantnag district. Rahul said they would be visiting other flood affected areas of the state as well. Emergency workers are struggling to prevent waterborne diseases like cholera as fetid water swilled around localities in the state. Hospitals were flooded when the Jhelum River burst its banks and staff scattered around the Srinagar city were unable to get to work. Doctors were running out of medicines and surgical equipment as they struggled to provide emergency services in makeshift medical centres. Sep 30, 2014

Vishakapatnam /Kolkata, Sept 29 (ANI): The Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari Temple in Vishakapatnam, on Monday adorned its idols in currency notes and gold ornaments during the ten-day Hindu festival of Durga Puja. The money donated will be returned to the owners, who consider it auspicious to donate currency so that their businesses remain fruitful and earn revenue during the year. Meanwhile, Kolkata is filled with pandals, housing beautiful idols of Goddess Durga, where devotees are immersed in the festivities. Organisers of the Ekdalia Evergreen pandal adorned their idols with pure gold ornaments as crowds thronged to worship them. It is believed that the Goddess Durga makes her annual visit to the world during Durga Puja and the festivities are meant to welcome her. Sabudana Kheer Ingredients Milk - 1 liter Small size Sabudana or Sago - 1 cup Jaggery - 200 gm Water A few Roasted Cashew nuts A few Roasted Raisins A few Cardamom pods A few strands of Saffron Method: 1. Pour milk into a deep pot and let it boil. 2. Meanwhile, melt jaggery by adding a little water in another pot. 3. Cool the mixture and then add it slowly into to the milk. 4. The Sabudana or Sago is been soaking for 1 hour and add into the milk. 5. Pound the cardamom seeds & add it to the milk. Add roasted cashew nuts and raisins. Turn off the stove and transfer to a serving bowl. 6. Garnish it with a few strands of saffron.
