BJP's Ravinder Raina attacked by PDP workers in Kashmir

Nowshera, Dec 20 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Nowshera constituency Ravinder Raina was allegedly attacked last night by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers. The BJP-PDP workers clash has reportedly left three BJP workers and two PDP workers injured. Following the incident, Raina was at first admitted to the Sub District Hospital of Nowshera. From there he was later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu. Eye witness and Raina's driver said that the attackers were in large numbers and were shouting anti-BJP and pro- PDP slogans. BJP leaders of Jammu and Kashmir have reportedly condemned the attack and stated that the police will take legal action in this case. Dec 20, 2014

New Delhi, Dec 20 (ANI): As the voting kick started on Saturday for the fourth phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people to cast their vote in large numbers. "I urge all those voting in the 5th and final phase of J-K and Jharkhand Assembly polls to turnout in record numbers and vote," tweeted Prime Minister Modi. In Jammu and Kashmir, voting is taking place for 20 Assembly seats in border district of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri. Five ministers of Omar Abdullah government along with 213 other candidates, and a number of former MPs and MLAs are in the fray. In Jharkhand, polling is underway for 16 constituencies spread over 6 districts of Dumka, Godda, Sahebganj, Jamtara, Deoghar and Pakud in Santhal Pargana region. These traditional snacks have different varieties including Nadir Monji, Gaer Gouji. Made from lotus stem, chestnuts and other ingredients, these snacks have a great demand this season. These snacks are an essential part of daily lives of people in Kashmir during winters. A seller, Mohammad Azad, said on Friday that people come from far flung areas to get a taste of their favourite snacks. Munaf is contesting polls from 82 Dharhal constituency, which comes under Rajouri district of the state. Munaf, who picked up the gun to revolt against the state, is a reformed man. Bohr Camp, Dec 18 (ANI): People on Thursday pelted stones at former cricketer and BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's caravan in Jammu and Kashmir. The angry crowd also vandalized a car and the security personnel were injured. People even shouted against Sidhu. According to the reports, Sidhu remained unhurt in the brawl. Sidhu was attacked while campaigning in Bohr camp today apparently over a statement he gave in Uttar Pradesh a month back. On Wednesday, Sidhu had reportedly appealed to the people of Jammu to 'disband' the Congress, People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC) from the state, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had envisaged a vision for the state in which Jammu and Kashmir would compare favourably with Gujarat. Residents of Poonch district are finding hard to fight the cold as the temperature was recorded minus five degrees Celsius due to rain showers and snowfall. Icy winds and fresh snowfall in the hills has influenced many parts of northern India. The cold wave has also forced people to stay indoors and keep themselves warm with bonfire. A resident, Mohammad Shafiq, said they are finding it difficult to cope with the current weather conditions.
