He said that the party will form government in Jharkhand and claimed that the BJP has emerged as a relevant party in Jammu and Kashmir. Shah promised good governance in Jharkhand and said that on BJP could change the state's fortunes. Further, the party president also said that all options of alliance and forming government with the support of other parties are open for BJP but the initiative he remained would come from other parties willing to join BJP in either of the states. New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): With assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir throwing up a hung verdict, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday said it was 'open' to aligning with PDP in the state to provide a government. Azad said that the party have allied with PDP as well as with National Conference in past and it is clear that PDP will not go with BJP. New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday conducted a parliamentary board meeting, even as the counting of votes for the five-phased assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand is underway. Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the agenda of the meeting was 'good governance day'and also Christmas. Rudy said that it is decided that wherever Christmas is being celebrated, there should be active participation by parliamentarians. Further, Rudy stated that having a strong presence in the Lok Sabha was paying dividends and applauded developments that took place in the lower house as against the upper house. Political parties remain optimistic even as BJP and PDP share early leads in J and K

New Delhi/ Jammu, Dec 23 (ANI): Political parties on Tuesday remained optimistic even as BJP and PDP are locked in a close contest as the counting for the assembly elections are underway. BJP was leading in 16 seats while PDP was ahead in 15 in the early trends of counting of votes in Jammu and Kashmir where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was ahead by a slender margin in Beerwah constituency but trailing by over 1,800 votes in Sonawar seat. While BJP remained confident that it will come to power with majority and said that the party will be open to those who want to give support: PDP leader Sameer Kaul said that the party will not need support from any party and will make government on its own. NC leader Ratan Lal Gupta also remained hopeful and chose not to rely on early trends. Jharkhand/ Jammu and Kashmir, Dec 23 (ANI): Counting of votes for the five-phased assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand began on Tuesday amidst high security. In Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 821 candidates, including 276 independents, contested the elections to the 87-member House. While in Jharkhand, the fate of a total of 1,136 candidates, including 111 women, will be decided in the counting for the 81-member assembly. Srinagar, Dec 23 (ANI): People of Jammu and Kashmir continue to shiver and daily life is paralyzed as the cold wave in the state shows no signs of weakening anytime soon.Minimum temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir have dropped to sub-zero level forcing people to stay indoors. The sudden dip in temperatures is said to have been caused by snowfall in the Himalayas and has adversely impacted the upper half of the country. To make things worse for the people of Kashmir, Chilai Kalan- the harshest forty day period of winter- arrived in Kashmir with upper reaches of the valley receiving fresh snowfall on Saturday.
