Authorities rope in residents to clean holy river Ganges in Allahabad

Allahabad/Patna, Oct 27 (ANI): State administration of Uttar Pradesh undertook a massive drive by including local residents to clean up holy River Ganges in Allahabad. Hundreds of officials and volunteers cleaned up the bank and swept the nearby roads. The government has also planned to stop direct discharge of drains into the river. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a nationwide cleanliness mission to raise awareness and better sanitation among citizens under the banner of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' or Clean India Mission. Aam Aadmi Sena leaders protest outside residence of Arun Jaitley over black money

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Members of Aam Aadmi Sena protested outside the residence of Arun Jaitley on Sunday urging him to disclose the names of foreign bank account holders. Aam Aadmi Sena leader Shamsher Singh said that the money belongs the people and hence the government must reveal the name of the account holders. The BJP had set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unearth "black money", after its first cabinet meeting. However, the government later claimed that not all information on the matter should be disclosed under double taxation avoidance agreement or DTAT. People light over one lakh earthen lamps, pray for world peace

Gorakhpur, Oct 25 (ANI): Scores of Hindu devotees gathered at a river bank in Uttar Pradesh to light over one lakh earthen oil lamps and prayed for world peace and prosperity of citizens. The lighting of earthen lamps was done after Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Devotees congregated at the Surajkund temple in Gorakhpur and prayed for brotherhood among people. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama, was believed to have rested at this temple site with his consort Sita on their way back from Lanka after defeating Ravana. The temple was illuminated with lights as earthen lamps were placed on the steps. It is a century old custom, organized with the aim to purify the atmosphere and keep the surroundings clean. Mumbai, Oct 24 (ANI): Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani said on Friday that he has given his piece of advice on the black money case to the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley through a scathing letter. Accusing Jaitley of not doing enough in the black money case the senior lawyer said that Jaitley's conduct shows that he too, like many others, does not want the truth to come out.
