New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Dense fog enveloped Delhi on Monday, adversely affecting flights and trains. According to the media reports, 16 flights were delayed due to dense fog. Fifty trains were also delayed while 12 others were rescheduled due to fog. Visibility on roads also remained very poor. According to Indian Meteorological Department the sky will remain cloudy on Monday. The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 16 and 6 degrees Celsius, respectively. Dec 22, 2014

Ludhiana, Dec 20 (ANI): The onset of winters has brought cheers to India's largest hosiery industry in Ludhiana city, which was battling a huge stockpile of its unsold inventory. As temperatures have dipped to sub-zero levels in several north Indian states, this hosiery manufacturing hub in Punjab is witnessing a jump in sales. Owners say they hope to clear unsold stocks now. Ludhiana accounts for nearly 90 percent of the country's woolen hosiery industry and employs 400,000 people. The hosiery goods of Ludhiana are not just popular in domestic market but are also in great demand in Europe, Dubai, America and Russia as well. Govt tables GST Bill in Lok Sabha, Jaitley says bill may increase taxation

New Delhi, Dec 19 (ANI): The Central government on Friday tabled the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the government aims to bring the tax into effect from April 1, 2016. Government will compensate its state governments for revenue losses due to the new nationwide Goods and Service Tax. He added GST will also add to country's gross domestic product (GDP). The bill introduced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley needs the support of two thirds of members of parliament as well as ratification by state legislatures which is expected to happen by the next session of parliament. After snowfall, Himachal Police asks tourists not to visit Manali

Shimla/ Bhopal/Amritsar, Dec 18 (ANI): Incessant snowfall and cold wave over the last five days have thrown normal life out of gear in Himachal Pradesh including the popular tourist resort town of Manali in the Kullu valley. Police has issued an advisory requesting the tourists not to visit Manali for the next few days as a two to three feet snow cover is there. The dip in mercury due to snowfall in the upper reaches has even impacted northern states such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Officials of meteorological department in Himachal Pradesh state have forecast similar weather conditions for the week. Meanwhile, dense fog has disrupted life in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh states.
