Ghaziabad, Oct 28 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that if BJP is left with little shame, then it should dissolve the legislative assembly of Delhi and hold fresh elections. Kejriwal's statement came after the Supreme Court slammed the Central government as well as the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, for delay in taking decision regarding government formation in the national capital. He added that people in Delhi are troubled by electricity and water problems, which the AAP government had resolved during its rule. Hindu devotees in Gorakhpur throng markets to prepare for 'Chhath'

Gorakhpur, Oct 28 (ANI): Thousands of Hindu devotees in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh thronged markets to buy the traditional items required to celebrate the Sun God festival, 'Chhath'. A devotee Bimla Mishra said that the festival is very important and is considered extremely auspicious. The Chhath, celebrated on the sixth and seventh day after Diwali, is significant for married women who observe a three-day fast and standing in waist-deep river water, present religious offerings to the Sun God. According to tradition, on the first day, devotees, mostly women, take a dip in the river and begin fasting. Another devotee, Manju Tripathi, said that devotees fast for the fulfillment of their wishes. On the second day, rituals are performed at home. Chhath is considered an extremely auspicious festival by the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The festival has also gained popularity in metropolitan cities like Kolkata, Pune and Mumbai, too, where there are large numbers of migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Oct 28, 2014

Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates water ATM in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Monday inaugurated a water ATM (Automated Teller Machine) in New Delhi under the Sarvajal (water for all) scheme to provide potable drinking water at a nominal price. Sarvajal scheme, launched by Delhi Jal (Water) Board (DJB), seeks to provide affordable access to potable water in parched areas through water ATMs. A water ATM is a decentralized water treatment plant that extracts the ground water which then is purified through reverse osmosis system and provided to people. Women in Manipur become self-reliant by making use of water reed

Manipur, Oct 26 (ANI): These women folk gather at the residence of Akhom Rasho Singh at Kongha Nangdeibam Leikai in Imphal East to get training in making products out of water reed, locally known as Kouna, an easily available aquatic weed. Rasho set up "Akhom Kouna Crafts" centre in 2003 and conducts training programmes across the state. It helps many unemployed people to become self-reliant. Water Reed products like bags, cushions, mats, boxes, baskets and several other decorative items have become a special attraction in Manipur and rest of the country. "Akhom Kouna Crafts" also export some products to the United States. The women workers are happy to be able to earn a decent living and are keen to impart training to other unemployed youth.
