Tourists throng Manali to explore adventure sports

Manali, Dec 30 (ANI): Thousands of tourists thronged Solang Valley to explore adventure sports after Himachal Pradesh received good snowfall this winter season. Himachal Pradesh, which has turned into a paradise of skiers, is attracting sports lovers from across the country to explore snow sports including trekking, skiing, paragliding and rafting. The snow-covered hill resort has always been the preferred holiday destination for domestic as well as foreign tourists for ice games. Tourists were in high spirits riding on yak and playing with snow. A tourist, Pooja Jain, said her family had visited Solang valley earlier to enjoy the combination of scenery and sports. Finance Minister Jaitley rejects Raghuram Rajan's criticism of 'Make in India'

New Delhi, Dec 29 (ANI): Rejecting Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan's criticism on 'Make in India' programme, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said that it is about manufacturing of quality products at low cost, whether they are sold in India or abroad. The minister in his inaugural address of a national workshop on 'Make in India' further said manufacturing remains a challenge for country's economy and cost of capital has been the major factor behind slowed down manufacturing. Emphasizing on manufacturing of quality products at low costs, Jaitley said it was not relevant whether they are sold in India or abroad. Chalking out the ways to open up the roads for manufacturers, Jaitley said the entry point into manufacturing sector needs to be eased and that if we keep doors closed, investments won't come in. There should be an ease of doing business in India. Earlier this month, RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan had criticised 'Make in India' campaign, saying it assumes an export-led growth path of China and it should rather be 'Make for India' with a focus on manufacturing products for the domestic market. Northern India continues to battle cold wave and dense fog

New Delhi/Kanpur, Dec 29 (ANI): Cold wave in northern India showed no signs of easing up anytime soon as people in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh continued to shiver with dense fog affecting normal life on Monday. The dip in temperatures is said to have been caused by snowfall in the Himalayas and has adversely impacted the upper half of the country. The cold wave has compounded problems of the homeless people and office-goers. People scheduled to travel via trains and flights also had to face a tough time as several trains and flights were delayed and rescheduled due to low visibility as a thick blanket of fog enveloped several areas in the capital.
