New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Friday appealed for mass contribution towards saving water and its resources in the country for sustainable development. Bharti raised this issue while delivering a speech at National Convention of Water Users Association in Indian capital New Delhi. Factors such as increasing usage, poor infrastructure, and pollution have led to a decline of water quantity and quality in India. Climate change, meanwhile, is expected to cause a two-fold impact. Varanasi, Nov 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached his constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi for the first time after assuming the office in New Delhi. Preparations for his arrival were started days before as people seem exciting over the awaited visit. UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will be in the city to welcome the Prime Minister. Modi is expected to adopt a village under the 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'. Jayapur village, 24 kilometres away from Varanasi, hopes to be picked and is prepping to receive the prime minister, who is scheduled to make a public address there. The villagers also held prayers ahead of Modi's visit and thanked him for choosing their village. Water tight security arrangements have been made. PM Modi will be in his constituency for a little over 24 hours. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a Weavers Trade Facilitation Centre and a crafts museum aimed at uplifting the lot of weavers and craftsmen. Nov 7, 2014

Nobel laureate Peres will launch a tri-lateral dialogue on food and water security involving India, Israel and Australia. Peres, who completed his seven-year tenure as president in July this year, would participate in the World Economic Forum meet in New Delhi. India has opted to buy Israel's Spike anti-tank guided missile, a defence ministry source said on November 01, rejecting a rival US offer of Javelin missiles that Washington had lobbied hard to win. Cabinet approves treaty on transfer of sentenced prisoners between India, Nigeria

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet gave its approval for signing a treaty on transfer of sentenced persons between India and Nigeria and also plans to work closely with Australia as a committed partner in international efforts to combat illicit drugs. The Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that India and Nigeria have undergone an agreement that Indians sentenced to imprisonment in Nigeria can complete their punishment in their own country and vice-versa.
