US couple adopts 2-year-old girl with rare blood disorder in Maharashtra

Aurangabad, Feb 11 (ANI): Setting an example, an American couple adopted a two-year-old girl suffering from a rare blood disorder from an adoption centre in Maharashtra. This is the first adoption of a special child by a foreign couple in Aurangabad. The Society for Adoption, Knowledge, Awareness and Resource (Sakar) houses 39 other children with congenital, mental or physical deformities. Sandhya's new mother, Andrea Knepper, who already has two biological children, (two sons - 11 and 9 years old), said it was her wish to adopt a girl from India as her grandfather belonged to the country. Though Indian couples have off late been enthusiastic about adoption of girl children, many people still do not have a positive approach towards adopting disabled children. Feb 11, 2015
