BSE closes points 122.59 up on Jan 29

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 122.59 points up to stand at 29,681.77. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 38.05 points up to stand at 8,952.35. HDIL and ARVIND were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 13.73% and 8.93% along with PRESTIGE and JET AIRWAYS with an increase of 8.58% and 7.57% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include ORIENT BANK and ALSTOM T&D INDIA LTD. with a decrease of 10.77% and 10.37% along with SPARC and GPPL with a decrease of 8.71% and 7.45% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 39.33 points at 20,248.96, while the banking sector is up 9.72 points at 23,448.80 and the reality sector is up 53.98 points at 1,772.81. New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 76.26 points up to stand at 29,355.10. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 16.15 points up to stand at 8,851.75. JETAIRWAYS and EDELWEISS were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 14.74% and 10.25% along with SPARC and MAX with an increase of 10.00% and 9.34% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include GSFC and FSL with a decrease of 11.94% and 7.09% along with UNION BANK and GRUH with a decrease of 5.45% and 5.04% at the close of the markets. Delhi Metro services to be partially curtailed on Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 24 (ANI): The services of Delhi Metro will be partially curtailed on Jan 26 as part of the security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations as per the instructions of Delhi Police. Metro schedules of Line - 2 (HUDA City Centre - Jahangirpuri), Line - 3 (Noida City Centre - Dwarka Sector 21), Line -4 (Yamuna Bank to Vaishali) and Line 6 (Mandi House - Badarpur) have been partially modified for January 26. Entry and Exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from 06:00 am up to12:00 Noon while Patel Chowk and Race Course Metro stations entry and exit will remain closed from 08:45 am to 12:00 Noon. Both Mandi House and Pragati Maidan Metro stations will be closed for public from 10:45 am up to 11:45 am. Jan 24, 2015

It Happens : Students in Varanasi create sand sculptures on sensitive issues

Varanasi, Jan 23 (ANI): Students in temple town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh created sand sculptures on sensitive and burning issues on bank of holy River Ganges. Schoolchildren from around the town converged at the banks and created their artwork with coloured sand to give their work a different look. One of the sculptures commemorated the ill-fated AirAsia flight that crashed in December last year, killing all passengers and crew on board. Indonesia AirAsia Flight QZ8501 lost contact with air traffic control in bad weather on December 28. Meanwhile, another student created a sculpture on Clean India mission with an aim to create awareness among young generation to keep surroundings clean. The bank was teeming with children and adults who braved the cold winter to see the sand arts. The topics ranged from women empowerment, militancy, Peshawar school attack and Bharat Ratna. Politicos react as Shanta Kumar claims UPA's Food Act more about 'vote security'

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Friday after Former Food Minister and chairman of the high level committee on Restructuring the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Shanta Kumar claimed that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) passed during the UPA regime's tenure was more about "vote security" than "food security". BJP leader Sambit Patra expressed his agreement with Shanta Kumar's view on Food Security Act. BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the UPA without providing adequate food security kept on doing vote bank politics.
