People in Kashmir eat spicy traditional cuisine 'Harissa' to fight cold

Srinagar, Jan 31 (ANI): Kashmiris are flocking restaurants to relish a special mutton dish which helps them fight biting cold. The traditional mouth-watering cuisine Harissa is a much-sought after dish in the state during winters. Harissa is prepared with mutton meat, rice, milk and a lot of spices. The mixture is cooked for long on fire, stirred continuously to make it mushy and smooth. When served, hot oil is poured on top of it and it is served with traditional Kashmiri naan (bread). A customer Farooq Ahmed said that Harissa is good for health. The more than 100-year-old dish is a regular in breakfast menu in almost every household when temperatures dip to sub-zero levels during winters. The dish is also popular among visiting tourists as it is not available elsewhere in India. Reyaz Ahmed, who works as a cook in a local restaurant, said the demand for Harissa picks up during winters. Jan 31, 2015

Three Indian villagers injured in fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan

Arnia, Jan 30 (ANI): In a fresh incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers on the international border in Kashmir, three villagers were injured. The incident happened in Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Thursday night. The Border Security Force (BSF) has retaliated in full measure. Villagers rushed the three injured to a government hospital where condition of one of them has been described as critical. Residents said they faced difficulty in rescuing the wounded amid a barrage of bullets. Four-day car rally in Siliguri attracts visitors

Siliguri, Jan 29 (ANI): People thronged the four-day state sponsored car rally which is being held in Siliguri district of West Bengal. The third National Time Speed Distance (TSD) Himalayan car rally organised by tyre manufacturer JK Tyre in association with West Bengal Tourism department is witnessing participants traversing a 700-kilometer stretch through the northern parts of the state. 27 cars with 54 participants are taking part in the motorsport. The route apart from touching main tourist spots will also go through smaller towns to showcase the natural beauty of the state. Jammu, Jan 29 (ANI): People's Democratic Party (PDP) indicated that it could form an alliance with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP Spokesperson Naeem Akhtar said that the party was aware of the fact that it could not work alone. PDP emerged as the single largest party in the state bagging 28 seats in the 87-member legislature, brightening its chances of forming a coalition government.
