International Kite Festival kicks off in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Jan 10 (ANI): The International Kite Festival kicked off in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat on Saturday with Chief Minister Anandiben Patel inaugurating the four-day event. The festival attracts enthusiastic kite makers and flyers from across the globe. Kites in various shapes and hues took over the Ahmedabad sky as foreign and local kite flyers competed with each other. The festival that marks the end of winter will culminate on January 13. As many as 150 international kite flyers are participating in the festival along with domestic participation from various parts of the country. Various musical and cultural programmes have also been arranged to showcase the local flavor to foreign tourists thronging the city for the festival. Jan 10, 2015

Snowfall in Kufri boosts tourism

Kufri, Jan 09 (ANI): An early spell of snowfall in Kufri this year has brought cheers to the small business community. Nestled in hills, Kufri in Himachal Pradesh has been attracting a steady stream of visitors after temperatures plummeted to zero levels. One of the preferred tourist destinations for people from plains, Kufri has reported a significant jump in tourist numbers. Locals are happy as all sectors linked to tourism industry are doing well. Tourists, both domestic and foreign, have been thronging Kufri since a thick blanket of snow enveloped the hills. Travel agent, Kuldeep Sharma, said the rush of tourists has boosted the revenues of hotels and small traders.
