Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to be sworn in as J&K CM today amidst tight security

New Delhi, March 01 (ANI): People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be sworn as the next chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday amidst very tight security. He will be heading a PDP-BJP coalition government. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the General Zorawar Auditorium of Jammu University from around 11 a.m. on Sunday and will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and leaders of both the PDP and BJP, besides other invited dignitaries. The Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, NN Vohra, will administer the oath of office and secrecy. Security forces kill two militants in Tral

Tral, Feb 28 (ANI): Security forces killed two militants in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them. One of the militants has been identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir of the Hizbul Mujahedeen outfit and a resident of Kashmir's Tral district. Reportedly, a search operation was launched by the army and local police of Kashmir's Tral district following specific intelligence inputs. Union Budget 2015-16: FM announces more AIIMS, IIT and IIMs

New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the General Budget for 2015-16 in Lok Sabha on Saturday. Jaitley said that the government is putting scam, scandal and corruption behind it and added the Parliament needs to look into a procurement law. Jaitley proposed to set-up an IT based student financial aid system under the PM Vidya Laxmi scheme to ensure that no student misses out on higher education due to lack of fund. He also proposed to set up All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Himachal and Assam. Keeping in view the need to augment medical services in Bihar, Jaitley proposed to set up another AIIMS like institution in the state. Kashmiri traders demand compensation for losses incurred during floods

Srinagar, Feb 28 (ANI): Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) staged a protest in Jammu and Kashmir and demanded immediate release of funds as compensation for the losses caused due to floods in September last year. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley last year. Due to floods, many shops were damaged and businesses of traders were hampered last year. Protestors carrying placards and shouting slogans, 'We want justice', rallied in Srinagar streets. KTMF President Sadiq Baqal said that they did not receive any relief till date. He further requested the government to listen to their grievances as they have waited far too long for compensation. Srinagar/ New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yasin Malik slammed chief of People's Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for double standards. AFSPA gives security forces, battling militancy in the troubled regions of Kashmir and the northeast, sweeping powers to search arrest or shoot people.
