Politicos react as PDP seeks body of Afzal Guru

Jammu/ New Delhi, Mar 03 (ANI): Ruling party of Jammu and Kashmir sought the dead body of Afzal Guru, evoking sharp reaction from opposition. India hanged Mohammad Afzal Guru in 2013 for the attack on parliament in 2001 and his mortal remains were buried in New Delhi jail premises. The state got a coalition government of People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (March 01). This thread of harmony has kept the region intact, and leading people to the path of development without involving themselves in religious skirmishes. A similar scene is observed during the three-day annual Shiv Khori Fair in the hills of the Ransoo Village of Reasi District in Jammu region, where devotees, shunning religious bias, gather at the countryside and pay obeisance to Lord Shiva. Around 50,000 in number, the devotees, including both men and women, who come from different parts of the country offer prayers in the holy cave, located inside the hillock. Chanting hymns to praise the Lord, the devotees enter into the meditation to get the blessings. Draped in colourful attires, the young women, while holding earthen lamps in their hands, make the gathering look festive. New Delhi/ Udhampur, Mar 02 (ANI): Residents in Kashmir are overjoyed as sudden change in weather pattern brings snowfall to the capital Srinagar city. A blanket of white covered the entire city as temperatures dipped below zero. While many were forced to retreat indoors, others found joy in the snowfall. The sudden change in weather has also resulted in landslides and blockades in some parts of the city. Traders were the most affected as they were stranded on roads due to land slip. With snowfall in Kashmir, many parts of northern India witnessed heavy rainfall. Meteorological department has predicted similar weather conditions for the week ahead. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday told the Parliament that armed forces, paramilitary forces and the people of Jammu and Kashmir have made peaceful polls possible. Meanwhile, the opposition demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue. Sayeed, who took oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister yesterday, stoked a controversy by stating that the Hurriyat, Pakistan and militants had allowed a conducive atmosphere for the assembly polls in the state.
