Delhi Metro services to be partially curtailed on Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 24 (ANI): The services of Delhi Metro will be partially curtailed on Jan 26 as part of the security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations as per the instructions of Delhi Police. Metro schedules of Line - 2 (HUDA City Centre - Jahangirpuri), Line - 3 (Noida City Centre - Dwarka Sector 21), Line -4 (Yamuna Bank to Vaishali) and Line 6 (Mandi House - Badarpur) have been partially modified for January 26. Entry and Exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from 06:00 am up to12:00 Noon while Patel Chowk and Race Course Metro stations entry and exit will remain closed from 08:45 am to 12:00 Noon. Both Mandi House and Pragati Maidan Metro stations will be closed for public from 10:45 am up to 11:45 am. Jan 24, 2015

It Happens : Students in Varanasi create sand sculptures on sensitive issues

Varanasi, Jan 23 (ANI): Students in temple town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh created sand sculptures on sensitive and burning issues on bank of holy River Ganges. Schoolchildren from around the town converged at the banks and created their artwork with coloured sand to give their work a different look. One of the sculptures commemorated the ill-fated AirAsia flight that crashed in December last year, killing all passengers and crew on board. Indonesia AirAsia Flight QZ8501 lost contact with air traffic control in bad weather on December 28. Meanwhile, another student created a sculpture on Clean India mission with an aim to create awareness among young generation to keep surroundings clean. The bank was teeming with children and adults who braved the cold winter to see the sand arts. The topics ranged from women empowerment, militancy, Peshawar school attack and Bharat Ratna. New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Friday after Former Food Minister and chairman of the high level committee on Restructuring the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Shanta Kumar claimed that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) passed during the UPA regime's tenure was more about "vote security" than "food security". BJP leader Sambit Patra expressed his agreement with Shanta Kumar's view on Food Security Act. BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the UPA without providing adequate food security kept on doing vote bank politics. New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 104.19 points up to stand at 28,888.86. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 33.90 points up to stand at 8,729.50. JUBILANT and TATA ELXSI LTD. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 9.33% and 8.56% along with MUTHOOT FINANCE LTD. and CORPORATION BANK with an increase of 7.00% and 5.89% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include NATCO PHARMA LTD. and GDL with a decrease of 5.90% and 5.62% along with RALLIS INDIA LTD. and ITC with a decrease of 5.47% and 5.01% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 13.81 points at 19,666.49 while the banking sector is up 87.73 points at 22,721.16 and the reality sector is down 3.64 points at 1,639.74. New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): A court has ordered the government to release blocked funds of Greenpeace India, the environmental group said, months after being accused of running campaigns that were hurting the country’s economy. India's intelligence service in June said Greenpeace and other lobby groups were damaging the country's economy by campaigning against power projects, mining and genetically modified food. While Greenpeace denied the allegations, India asked its central bank to tighten controls on moving funds from abroad into Greenpeace's Indian accounts. Greenpeace said the Indian government had "arbitrarily barred" it from receiving foreign funds from Greenpeace International and Climate Works Foundation in June 2014. The government's move to restrict the movement of funds had raised concerns that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new government will be tough on foreign-funded activist groups. Jan 21, 2015

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to end “financial untouchability” with a scheme to ensure majority of households in the country of nearly 1.3 billion people has a bank account has almost been fulfilled, according to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Jaitley announced that the scheme called Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PJDY) or Prime Minister’s National Mission on Financial Inclusion, has achieved its target well before the deadline. According to the ministry of finance, by January 17, 2015 a record number of 115 million bank accounts have been opened in the country.
