Haridwar, Dec 22 (ANI): Thousand of workers of youth wing of Congress party held a demonstration against yoga guru Ramdev in Haridwar city. Irate workers broke police barricades and tried to proceed towards Ramdev's hermitage. Police used water canons and resorted to mild force to disperse the protesters. The workers alleged that Ramdev, in his campaign during general elections, had promised that if Narendra Modi came to power, he would bring back black money within 100 days, but nothing happened even after 200 days of Modi's rule. Congress has been accusing Prime Minister Modi-led government for not keeping its promise of bringing back the black money. Dec 22, 2014

Biting cold adds to woes of people of J and K rendered homeless during floods

Poonch, Dec 21 (ANI): Harsh winters in Jammu and Kashmir have added to the troubles of those who were rendered homeless by the deluge almost four months back and now continue to put up in makeshift tents. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley in September. Roads in state capital of Srinagar were transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. A flood victim, Imran Khan said around 82 families are still suffering and continue to live in tents while some are staying with their relatives. The victims also said the government had promised them to provide free food and water for six months but they have not received anything yet. The flood-hit victims are battling to survive despite going hungry, homeless and freezing in the cold weather. Dec 21, 2014

Monkey saves electrocuted friend at Kanpur railway station

Kanpur, Dec 21 (ANI): In a heroic act, a monkey saved life of another monkey who fell unconscious after being electrocuted in Kanpur. The monkey was electrocuted while walking on high tension wires in city’s railway station. It fell down on the tracks and appeared dead. The monkey tried to resuscitate the unconscious one for several minutes by biting and dipping him in the water on the tracks. After almost 15-20 minutes the electrocuted monkey showed signs of life and started moving a bit. Lots of people were seen standing on the platform and taking videos and pictures in their mobile phones. Dec 21, 2014

Badam Milk Puri Ingredients For Badam milk Almond/Badam - 10 Milk - 1 liter Sugar - 1 cup A few strands of Saffron in milk A few Cardamom pods Almond Essence - 2 drop For Puri Wheat Flour - 1 cup Ghee - 1 tbsp A little Water Oil for frying Puri Method: 1. Soak the almonds in water for an hour, remove the skin and grind it into a nice fine paste by adding a little milk. 2. Boil the milk and simmer it for a few minutes. 3. While the milk is boiling, when make a dough for a puris. In a bowl add wheat flour, sugar, ghee, little water & knead the the flour till it becomes a stiff dough. Set it aside for 15 minutes. 4. Once the milk is reduce a little add saffron in milk, cardamom powder (pound it fresh), almond/badam milk, almond essence, sugar & let it boil till it thickens. 5. Heat oil for deep frying. Make the dough into small balls and roll out round puris. Once the puris are fried, put them into a plate. 6. Once the milk is thicken turn off the stove. We can have it either hot or cold milk. Pour the Almond/badam milk over the puri while serving in a bowl or Pour the mixture into the puris, and relish the taste of these badam milk puris. Cold wave continues to sweep northern India

New Delhi/Amritsar /Kanpur, Dec 19 (ANI): People in north India are grappling with the chilling cold with foggy weather paralyzing normal life over the past few days. The dip in mercury due to snowfall in the upper reaches has impacted northern states such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The cold wave has also forced people to stay indoors and keep themselves warm with bonfire. Dense fog was seen on Friday morning in New Delhi and Amritsar, making life difficult for the people. The cold is intensifying in the region as the temperature in the hilly areas has dipped into minus. Places like Kufri, Manali, Kullu and other tourist spots are witnessing minus temperatures for the last few days. The sub-zero level of temperature has led to freezing of water in the pipes in Shimla. Meanwhile, poor people in Kanpur alleged apathy by the administration which they say has failed to provide them facilities. Dec 19, 2014
