Maoists kill unarmed policeman in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Oct 19 (ANI): Maoists killed an unarmed policeman in Chhattisgarh, said a senior officer. Constable Shivkumar Sidar, who was unwell for the last few days, was going by bus for treatment in Sukma district when Maoists killed him. Additional Director General (ADG) Of Police, RK Vij ruled out any abduction. Security forces rushed to the spot to nab the assailants. The Maoists control large but poor areas of the region and often attack railway lines and mining operations to cripple economic activity, such as the transportation of coal to power and steel companies. SAARC energy ministers meet in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): The fifth meeting of the energy ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was held in New Delhi on Friday, with an aim to strengthen energy cooperation among the member countries. Energy ministers and senior officials from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were part of the meeting. India's Power and Coal Minister, Piyush Goyal, said that the similarities between the socio-economic conditions would help the SAARC nations to stay together and become a regional economic power house. New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the central government has Transferred Economic Affairs Secretary Arvind Mayaram to the tourism department and appointed Rajasthan Chief Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi. Mehrishi will join as Economic Affairs Secretary from November 01. Mayaram, who had twin roles as both finance and economic affairs secretary and was appointed by the previous UPA government, has been shifted to the tourism ministry. Expenditure Secretary Ratan P Watal is likely to be the new Finance Secretary as he is the senior most among all the five secretaries in the Finance Ministry.
