NCP's decision to abstain from voting in Maharashtra, in best interest of democracy: Majid Memon

New Delhi/Mumbai, Oct 27 (ANI): NCP leader Majid Memon on Monday said the party's decision to abstain from voting for majority in Maharashtra is in the best interest of the democracy and would do justice to the system. The chief of NCP, Sharad Pawar in an interview to business paper, Economic Times stated that if there is voting for majority in Maharashtra, NCP will abstain from it. The BJP won 122 of 288 seats in Maharashtra, but fell short of an outright majority. Memon said they would lend external support to the BJP. However, slamming Pawar, a leader of Communist Party of India (CPI), Atul Anjan, said that Pawar just wants to stay in power but does not hold anything in the interest of the nation. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena, a former ally of the BJP in Maharashtra, said on Monday it was ready to support whoever the BJP picked as the next chief minister of the state. Taking a dig at Shiv Sena lending support to the BJP the lawmaker of India's opposition Congress Party, Rashid Alvi, said that both parties want to get in power at any cost. Oct 27, 2014
