New Delhi/ Mathura, Dec 09 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday (December 09) summoned chief executive officer (India operations) of Uber cab service to interrogate him about the alleged rape incident and its services in India. The arrested driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav was remanded in custody for three days. He was arrested on charges of raping a woman three years ago but was later acquitted, police said. DCW chief Barkha Shukla said that they will find out how the cab service entered India. BJD leader Jay Panda said no taxi service should be singled out. New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): Swifting actions on the Delhi rape case, Delhi police and Transport department fastened the proceedings in the matter. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue and said that police is functioning for safety of women and that the cab company in question is already banned by the government. He also said that only authorized taxi service should be allowed to ply on Delhi roads and verification should be got done by the police. Meanwhile, Special Commissioner in Transport Department Kuldeep Singh Ganger said that it was found that the cab was not registered as local cab and was functioning illegally. Delhi Rape accused driver's mother admits her son's crime, seeks punishment

Mainpuri/ New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): The rape accused Uber taxi driver's mother in Uttar Pradesh admitted her son's crime and sought punishment for him. Uber driver's mother, Gangashri, said in Mainpuri village of Uttar Pradesh, that if her son was guilty he should be punished. The arrested driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav, appeared in court on Monday and was remanded in custody for three days. Three years ago, he was arrested on charges of raping a woman but was later acquitted, police said. Shiv Kumar's father Ramnath Yadav said though few cases had been filed against his son in the past, but he had not been convicted in any of those. The accused driver's neighbour also complained that he used to play a key role in eve-teasing cases in the village. Uber cab service has been banned by the government in the national capital and an FIR has been lodged against the company. Delhi Rape Case: Protests continue in national capital even as govt bans Uber cab services

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): Series of protests continue to take place across the national capital over Delhi rape case even as Uber cab services have been banned in Delhi by the government. Members of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) staged protest outside police headquarters demanding action against the accused. Brinda Karat after meeting Police Commissioner BS Basssi said that she was assured by Bassi in the case. Aam Aadmi Party members also staged protest outside the residence of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded action over the matter and steps for safety of women on Delhi streets. Earlier, Uber cab services issued a statement, wherein it said that "what happened over the weekend in New Delhi is horrific. Our entire team hearts go out to the victim of this despicable crime. Will do everything, to help bring this perpetrator to justice and to support the victim and her family in her recovery.
