Fire engulfs lift of residential building in Nagpur, kills five

Nagpur, May 23 (ANI): Fire broke out in the parking area of a residential building in Maharashtra on Friday and engulfed a lift, which left five members of a family dead. The incident took place at around 12.30 am in Nagpur city after vehicles parked in the basement of an apartment caught fire. Three women and two children were charred to death while they were in the lift to reach the ground floor. Dozens of fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the inferno. One of the residents, Kalyan, said the watchman was the first to raise an alarm. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. May 23, 2014
