Interest rates to remain unchanged, says RBI

Mumbai, Dec 2 (ANI): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday decided to keep interest rates unchanged and to stay focused on containing inflation. The RBI kept the repo rate at 8 per cent at its policy review, and there was no reduction. The reason for the interest rates being unchanged was because of the less than positive economic growth that was expected during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first six months in power. RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has reportedly kept the rates same, as a slowdown in economic growth was not as bad as earlier feared. Dec 2, 2014

PM Modi inaugurates Nagaland Hornbill Festival, announces 28 thousand crore fund for railways connec

Kisama, Dec 01 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Hornbill Festival and Nagaland Statehood Day celebrations in Kisama. Dressed as a Naga warrior while addressing people at the venue, Modi said that unlike the rest of India which had SEZs (Special Economic Zones), the Northeast region was full of NEZs, that is, 'Natural Economic Zones'. PM Modi also announced a package of rupees 28 thousand crore for the establishment of 14 new railway lines in the Northeast. He said that northeast is a perfect tourist destination and to further work on the same, railway connectivity is essential. He also talked about 24 hours power supply in the region for development. Palatana, Dec 1 (ANI): Prime Minister's energy affairs adviser Tawfiq-E-Elahi Chowdhury said that India-China-Bangladesh-Myanmar economic corridor was planned to boost trade and economic co-operation in the region. Chowdhury said it was discussed at South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in Nepal last week. Milkha Singh flags off marathon in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 30 (ANI): Former track and field sporting legend, Milkha Singh on Sunday (November 30) flagged off the 12th Hyderabad 10K marathon in Hyderabad with national and international athletes participating in the event. The marathon is organised every year by Hyderabad 10K Foundation, one of a major sporting events in India where thousands gather to celebrate unity and uphold their view of a happy, healthy living in the city. Singh was the brand ambassador of the event. The foundation was founded in 2003 with an objective of bringing the city together irrespective of the socio-economic status of the people and promotes health, fitness and sports among the people.
