Postal stamps on Narendra Modi issued in Bihar

Patna, May 29 (ANI): Department of Posts issued special stamps on Prime Minister Narendra Modi made by a philatelist in Bihar. The stamps and a special cover conceptualised by philatelist Pradeep Jain depicted Modi in four different poses and the special cover showed him emerging from a lotus. Jain said that he got the idea of 'My Stamp' during the inauguration of Barack Obama as United States President. It was a global event and stamps were released in Washington. The stamps and the cover were released on Modi's swearing-in ceremony on May 26. Impressed by his work, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted him to get few of the stamps to send them to the neighbouring countries. May 29, 2014

Police arrest three Maoists in Jharkhand

Khunti, Mar 12 (ANI): Police arrested three Maoists in Khunti district of Jharkhand. The arrest took place after an encounter between police and members of rebel outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Murhu forests in the district. During the encounter, 25 rounds were fired by the police. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khunti, Aneesh Gupta, said a commander of PLFI, Pradeep Karkatta who was behind many major Maoist incidents was also arrested. Mar 12, 2014

Congress leader on hunger strike over demand for dead bodies of missing tribals in Odisha

Bhubaneshwar, Feb 15 (ANI): A Congress leader is observing an indefinite hunger strike outside the Governor’s house in Bhubhaneshwar, over a demand for the return of dead bodies of missing tribals, who have allegedly died in police custody. Speaking to media persons the leader, Pradeep Majhi, claimed that he has information that four tribal men of the five who were arrested a few years ago by the Malkangiri district police under charges of supporting Maoists, were dead. Majhi, along with the family members of the missing tribals and various other supporters from Malkangiri and other surrounding tribal districts, went on an indefinite hunger strike three days ago. The sister of one of the missing tribals, Phulmati, said that the authorities were paying no heed to their grievances. Feb 15, 2014
