He added that Aam Aadmi Party suggested many measures which could make Delhi safer for women. He further stated that they also appealed Singh to look into the matter of forceful religion conversion. Telangana bans Uber cab services after Delhi rape case

Hyderabad, Dec 10 (ANI): Telangana on Wednesday banned the US-based Uber cab services, days after Delhi rape case by a driver employed with the company. The move came after India ordered state governments to halt the operations of all unregistered, web-based taxi companies on Tuesday. In state capital Hyderabad, police officials and the transport authority are stopping taxis and checking them. The move in India was followed by separate government and court actions against Uber in Thailand, Spain and the United States on a variety of issues. A representative for Uber said the company had not been officially notified of any ban in New Delhi and would issue a statement. New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Even as Delhi Police recovers iPhone of rape accused driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, given by employer Uber, from Mathura Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Wednesday said that they will be taking the accused driver's previous conducts into account. He said that the safety of women is a priority for the Delhi police and they are working hard in the sphere. Bassi also said that Delhi police is strengthening and increasing the number of patrolling police party and female constables among other things to avoid crime against women. Security measures in cab services tightened after Uber rape case

Gurgaon/ Bengaluru/ Mainpuri/ New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): In the wake of alleged rape of a female passenger in New Delhi by a driver contracted to US cab company Uber, security measures including background verification of drivers, have been tightened across India. Reiterating the need to monitor taxi drivers and fit cabs with GPS, Gurgaon launched a verification drive aimed at preventing crime against women professionals travelling in cabs. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Vinod Kaushik said the police had instructed the company owners to verify the background of the drivers and to monitor the cabs through GPS for tracking purposes. The case has revealed a failure to regulate the booming market for app-based taxi services in India. Meanwhile, Police Commissioner in Bengaluru city, MN Reddi and Transport Commissioner Rame Gowda held a joint news conference with an aim to improve safety measures of cabs in the IT hub. New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women on Tuesday summoned Uber cab services authorities for questioning them. The General Manager Gagan Bhatia said that he is extremely sorry for such an incident. DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla said that Uber authorities were questioned on various aspects like the basis on which they hire a driver for cab. She said that the authorities answered that the rape accused driver was completely eligible as per the requirements of Uber.
