New Delhi/ Ludhiana, Feb 07 (ANI): The Delhi cabinet approved the set up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the 1984 anti-Sikh riots within a time frame of one year, following the suggestion by national capital government to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. Police officers from outside Delhi would be responsible for conducting an inquiry in the case. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said this step would ensure a speedy and unbiased investigation in the case and would help in punishing the people involved in abetting the deadly riots. New Delhi, Feb 07 (ANI): Raising a red flag over the move by Delhi government to bypass the Centre on the Jan Lokpal Bill, Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran has said the Bill must be presented to the Lieutenant Governor before it is tabled in the state Assembly. Parasaran has said the Bill can become law in the National Capital Territory only after it receives the President's assent. Parasaran's opinion came in response to L-G Najeeb Jung's request for counsel on two counts: whether presenting the Bill in the Assembly without sending the legislative proposal to the Central government violates the constitution; and whether the Delhi government has the power to legislate on matters concerning the Delhi Police and the Delhi Development Authority. New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): In a setback to private schools in Delhi, the High Court on Friday rejected a plea seeking stay on fresh nursery admission guidelines issued by the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. The petition was filed by Delhi School Association after Jung made some changes in nursery admission process and decided to put an end to the management quota following protests by parents. The petitioners argued that the order compromised the autonomy of private unaided schools in Delhi.
