Odisha CM meets Finance Minister for aid post cyclone Hudhud

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi regarding the funds for the damages caused by cyclone Hudhud. Cyclone Hudhud had slammed into the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha last month, killing 41 people and tearing down tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes. Patnaik urged the Central government to release the funds similar to the advance of rupees 10 billion, which has been released to Andhra Pradesh. He further said they have also asked the government to release the due amount of rupees 399.83 crore from NDRF for the last year's cyclone Phailin. Nov 6, 2014

Residents of Visakhapatnam face lack of amenities after cyclone Hudhud

Visakhapatnam/ Bhubaneshwar, Oct 13 (ANI): Residents in the port city of Visakhapatnam faced lack of food and fuel on Monday morning after cyclone Hudhud lashed the Andhra Pradesh on Sunday leaving behind a trail of destruction in its path. The cyclone blasted India's eastern seaboard on Sunday with gusts of up to 195 km per hour (over 120 mph), uprooting trees, damaging buildings and killing at least six people despite a major evacuation effort. The cyclone after passing through Visakhapatnam had hit the adjoining state of Odisha but with less intensity. The capital city of Odisha, Bhubaneshwar, saw less damage in comparison. Bhubaneswar, Oct 12 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday took a review meeting on Cyclone Hudhud and said that total of 67752 people have been evacuated so far to 604 safe shelters. Patnaik said that more evacuations are likely and that the government is taking all precautions whatsoever.
