Pro-Assad Syrians celebrate in streets of Aleppo as government declares victory

Pro-government supporters took to the streets in Aleppo on 22 December as the Syrian army declared it had retaken the city. The last of the rebel fighters were evacuated from the city, handing President Bashar al-Assad his biggest victory in a nearly six-year war. Militants torch buses evacuating wounded and elderly in Syria

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Syrian state TV two buses evacuating villagers have been torched.The buses were sent to transport people from two villages besieged by rebels into government territory.This evacuation was part of a deal between the Syrian government and rebels allowing people to be transported out of East Aleppo in return.The attacking insurgents are believed to be Islamist fighters of Ahrar al-Sham and al-Nusra Front.
