Munger: Maoists attack train, gun down 3 GRP jawans

Munger, Dec 01 (ANI): A group of eight to ten Maoists ambushed a running train, killing three guards of the railway police and injuring two in Bihar. The incident took place in Sahebganj-Patna Inter-City Express near Jamalpur railway station in Bihar's Munger district. In the daring attack, the rebels also looted five rifles from the railway police guards before escaping from the site. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and bodies of the dead were sent for post mortem. Dec 1, 2013

Irom Sharmila's hunger strike enters its 14th year

New Delhi, Nov 05 (ANI): The "Iron Lady of Manipur" Irom Sharmila's hunger strike entered its 14th year on Tuesday. Irom has been on a hunger strike since November 04, 2000 in Manipur's capital Imphal, demanding the repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act or AFSPA in the state and other disturbed areas across the country. AFSPA gives troops in conflict areas the right to shoot to kill suspected rebels without fear of possible prosecution and to arrest suspected militants without a warrant. Sharmila's fast began 14years ago, a few days after 10 people were shot in the Malom town in Manipur's Imphal valley, allegedly by the Assam Rifles. Insurgents continue to target civilians in Manipur

Manipur, Sep 29 (ANI): On September 13, a bomb exploded inside a temporary workers' shed at Nagamapal killing at least 9 people. Around 12 others were seriously injured. The workers hailing from Assam were resting after dinner when the bomb went off, killing 5 of them on the spot. The security forces rushed to the blast site and took the injured to RIMS. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. In another incident on the same day, an IED exploded near the Khurai Chairenthongkhong waiting shed, injuring an Assam Rifles personnel and an auto rickshaw driver.
