Brazil: Dozens feared dead after iron ore tailings dam collapses

An iron ore tailings dam owned by Vale SA and BHP Billiton burst on Thursday (5 November) in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, killing as many as 16 people, local media reported. Nasa has cracked the mystery over Mars missing atmosphere

Scientists have documented a solar storm blasting away Mars atmosphere, an important clue in a long-standing mystery of how a planet that was once like Earth turned into a cold, dry desert, Nasa scientists said on Thursday (5 November). On 8 March, Nasas Mars-orbiting Maven spacecraft caught such a storm stripping away the planets atmosphere, scientists said. Maven lead researcher Bruce Jakosky said the stripping of Mars atmosphere took place hundreds of millions of years ago and has slowed down since. Nov 6, 2015

UN expects EU’s refugee flow to top 1m in 2015

Refugees and migrants are likely to keep coming to Europe at a rate of up to 5,000 per day via Turkey this winter, the United Nations said on Thursday (5 November), meaning that more than a million people will have fled to the continent this year.
