UN declares June 21 as 'International Yoga Day', BJP says big achievement for India

New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): The United Nations General Assembly adopted an India-led resolution declaring June 21 as 'International Yoga Day'. This comes less than three months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea. This is also for the first time that such an initiative has been proposed and implemented by any country in the UN body in less than 90 days. Reacting on the same, BJP President Amit Shah congratulated the UN and Modi for the same and said that it is a big achievement for India. He said that this initiative will take the ancient Indian science to new heights. The UNGA resolution said a goal of the Yoga Day is the "wider dissemination of information about the benefits of practising yoga would be beneficial for the health of the world population." Ravi Shankar Prasad pitches for open data

New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): Communications and Information Technology Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Thursday, advocated the need for open data terming it as the most crucial tool to realise the power of information. Prasad was speaking at the National Conference on Open Data and Open API (Application Programming Interfaces) in New Delhi. Open data is the idea that advocates free availability of certain kinds of data which can be easily accessed by all irrespective of any copyright or patent restrictions. Prasad also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of digital India will also empower the rural India.
