First India Nepal friendship motor rally flagged off

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28 (ANI): The first India-Nepal friendship motor rally was flagged off from Bhubaneswar city on Saturday. The rally, which will cover 3060 kilometres across India and Nepal over a period of 10 days, was flagged off by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. As many as 30 teams are participating in the event set to conclude in New Delhi on March 08. Rally Director, Praveen Bhanjdeo, said that the rally sought to forge a religious connect with the neighbouring country of Nepal. Both Puri in India and Pashupati in Nepal hold immense religious importance. Puri is regarded as the holy land of lord Jagannath while Pashupati houses the Pashupathinath Temple, a very popular pilgrimage site. The rally will trace the journey of Lord Buddha, passing through cities of Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda, Patna in India and Lumbini- the birth place of Buddha – in Nepal. Feb 28, 2015

India celebrates Valentine's Day amid threats from right wing Hindu groups

Agra/ Kolkata/ Gurgaon, Feb 15 (ANI): Despite reports of Hindu right wing organisations harassing couples in public places, Valentine's Day was celebrated across India. In a first, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav inaugurated a 'Lover's Seat' with the picturesque epitome of love, Taj Mahal in the background in Agra city. Yadav also posed for photographs at the 'Lover's Seat' with his wife Dimple. He said that for the state Valentine's Day was actually 'Taj Day'. Another attraction at the event was a black Taj Mahal replica made of sand by artist Sudarshan Patnaik. Meanwhile, in Kolkata city of West Bengal, All India Students' Association (AISA) held a protest against the Hindu nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for spreading communalism and impinging on people's freedom to choose partners. Assured NITI Aayog that Odisha will partner centre in its programs: Naveen Patnaik

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): After attending NITI Aayog meeting, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday said that he assured the Aayog that the state will partner centre in its programs like Make in India, Skill India, etc. He said that the he advised the governing council meeting to capture the concerns of the states and asked for an enhanced allocation for infrastructure projects including national highways rural roads etc. in the state. Odisha, Jan 30 (ANI): People are thronging the annual tribal fair in Bhubaneswar city of Odisha to get a glimpse of the tribal culture and a taste of the tribal delicacies. The tribal fair was inaugurated on Monday by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. It has been organised by the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRI) and will go on till February 09. The fair has been divided into various sections like a tribal village, market, food plaza and craft pavilion. Not only the visitors, the tribals participating in the fair are also pleased at this opportunity as they feel it provides them with a bigger market to sell their goods.
