Politicos demand strict action against those raising ISIS flag in J and K

New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday demanded strict action against the people who are raising ISIS flag in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that this is a dangerous sign for the country's security and the Chief Minister should take note of the act and strict action should be taken against those guilty. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that the suspected people raising ISIS flags should be arrested and demanded that President's rule should be imposed in the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir under AFSPA.

Irom Sharmila arrested again by police in Manipur on charges of attempting suicide

Manipur, Aug 22 (ANI): A struggling and screaming Irom Sharmila was dragged away from a tin shack by a team of police women on Friday morning. Sharmila, who was released from police custody on Thursday evening, was planning to observe a fast at the venue over a demand for the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA). She has been arrested again on charges of attempting suicide. Earlier, the police women were quoted by media, as saying that they were taking her for a medical check-up. When she resisted, they forcibly took a hold of her hands and legs and carried her to a police jeep and drove her away. Forty-two-year-old Sharmila has said that she is continuing with her 14-year fast in protest against "army atrocities" in Manipur. The activist was released after a court decided she cannot be charged with attempted suicide for refusing food and water.

Omars remark on AFSPA sparks debate among politicos

Srinagar, Jammu, Feb 24 (ANI): J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that he would work for the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that gives security forces sweeping powers to search arrest or shoot people became a point of debate and garnered criticism among political leaders. Commenting on the same, Awami Ittihaad Party President Engineer Rashid, on Monday said that the chief is trying to fool people with these false statements. BJP leader, Jugal Kishore Sharma, said the statement is political in nature as the state is still one of the militarized zones of the country. Meanwhile, National Panthers Party leader, Harsh Dev Singh, said that they have always been making the same statement since many years and it is not something new what Abdullah has announced. Furthermore, People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chief, Mehbooba Mufti said this statement is made keeping in mind the upcoming elections and political gains by the leader.

Militancy down by 70 % in Kashmir: Omar
