Security beefed up ahead of verdict in disproportionate assets case against Jayalalithaa

Chennai/ Bangalore, Sept 27 (ANI): Authorities in Bangalore tightened security ahead of a verdict in a corruption case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday, fearing violence in case the court ruled against her. Security has been beefed up outside the special court in Bangalore, which is all set to pronounce its verdict on the almost two decade old disproportionate assets case against Jayalalithaa. Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa boarded a special flight to Bangalore where the pronouncement is to take place. The AIADMK chief is accused of obtaining assets worth almost Rs. 66 crore through dishonest means during her first tenure as Chief Minister between 1991 and 1996. Sep 27, 2014

J Jayalalithaa elected unanimously as AIADMK general secretary

Chennai, Aug 29 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Chief J Jayalalithaa on Friday got re-elected unanimously as the party's general secretary. The party announced that Jayalalithaa has been elected unanimously as its general secretary. In a statement, Jayalalithaa conveyed her heartfelt thanks for those party men had proposed her candidature for the post. However, the article was later removed from the website and Sri Lanka also tendered an apology.
