PM Modi meets top military officers at Combined Commanders' Conference

New Delhi, Oct 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met top military officers at the defence ministry War Room at a time when tension continues along the border with both China and Pakistan. The Combined Commanders' Conference is the first meeting of the prime minister with all top commanders, including the three service chiefs. The three service chiefs are expected to give elaborate presentations to the prime minister on the security scenario. The Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, will make the first presentation, followed by the Indian Navy Chief Admiral RK Dhowan and the Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh. The prime minister and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley will address the conference. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Defence Secretary RK Mathur, among others are attending the conference. Oct 17, 2014

New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): After heading meeting with National Crisis Management Committee on Sunday, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth said that the velocity of Cyclone Hudhud has come down to 90-100 kmph. He said that the casualty reported is three and has not increased till now. He said that there has been physical damage of mobile communication, electricity lines and roads for whose construction and relief, central government will provide with all possible help. He also said that as far as Andhra Pradesh is concerned, quick assessment will be done and restoration process will start after that. New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Cabinet Secretary of India Ajit Seth on Sunday held a meeting with Crisis Management Committee of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to discuss the current situation in the states. He said that Indian government and the prime minister is in constant touch with the states over the cyclone Hudhud and are providing with all possible help from the Centre. He said that the focus is on the affected population that they should be alert even after the cyclone. Further, Seth also said that other states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand will also be affected though the intensity of the cyclone will be reduced by 0 per cent in next 6 hours. PM Modi reviews preparedness for cyclone Hudhud, declares support to states

New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an emergency meeting with the chief of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and other officials to take detailed review of the preparedness for cyclone Hudhud, which is likely to make landfall by noon on Sunday. The meeting was held in the presence of Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth. After the meeting Seth told that the Prime Minister has instructed to extend full assistance and support to both coastal states, where the cyclone Hudhud will make landfall. Seth said to deal with the cyclone, 24 NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams in Andhra Pradesh, while 18 in Odisha were mobilized along with several teams of the army being deployed. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik reviews preparedness for Cyclone Hudhud

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursady held a review meeting in the wake of the 'Cyclone Hudhud' alert issued for the state. Meanwhile, the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), which is chaired by Union Cabinet Secretary Ajit Kumar Seth, also reviewed the preparedness for dealing with the aftermath of Cyclone Hudhud, which is likely to hit the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on October 12. The Cabinet Secretary asked representatives of all Central Ministries, Departments and Chief Secretaries of the concerned State Governments to take necessary steps for preparedness to meet any eventuality from the cyclone. In wake of the cyclonic storm "Hudhud", the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has placed its five Battalions situated at Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar on high alert.
