Rajnath Singh launches women safety mobile app in New Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched a mobile-phone based application for safety of women in New Delhi on Thursday (January 01), and also distributed pepper sprays to group of women. The app 'Himmat' was launched in collaboration with the Delhi police. Singh congratulated the Delhi police for running several self-defence classes for women and motivated them to become a role model for the police forces across the country. He also highlighted the fact that there is a need to make the force technologically empowered. Delhi's Lt Gov Najeeb Jung appeals people to help homeless during winters

New Delhi, Dec 22 (ANI): Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday appealed Delhiites to help the city's homeless by giving them warm clothes and blankets during the harsh winters. Jung added that people should donate blankets, clothes etc, at the nearest night shelters only, and not on the streets or roads as this will motivate homeless people to use the shelters and not sleep in the open. Delhi Rape Case: Protests continue in national capital even as govt bans Uber cab services

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): Series of protests continue to take place across the national capital over Delhi rape case even as Uber cab services have been banned in Delhi by the government. Members of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) staged protest outside police headquarters demanding action against the accused. Brinda Karat after meeting Police Commissioner BS Basssi said that she was assured by Bassi in the case. Aam Aadmi Party members also staged protest outside the residence of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded action over the matter and steps for safety of women on Delhi streets. Earlier, Uber cab services issued a statement, wherein it said that "what happened over the weekend in New Delhi is horrific. Our entire team hearts go out to the victim of this despicable crime. Will do everything, to help bring this perpetrator to justice and to support the victim and her family in her recovery.
