ISIS declares Islamic 'Caliphate', calls for Muslims to pledge allegiance

Iraq, June 30 (ANI): An offshoot of al Qaeda which has captured territory in Iraq and Syria has declared itself an Islamic "caliphate" and called on factions worldwide to pledge their allegiance. The move poses a direct challenge to the central leadership of al Qaeda, which has already disowned it, and to conservative Gulf Arab rulers. The group, previously known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and also as ISIS, has renamed itself "Islamic State" and proclaimed its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as "Caliph" - the head of the state. Al-Adnani said the Islamic "caliphate" stretched from Aleppo in Syria to Diyala in Iraq. Jun 30, 2014

North Waziristan, June 23: Pakistan is falling victim to the monster it has created. The Taliban and al Qaeda militants, who were backed and trained by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), are now on a rampage. Pakistan faced a major setback on June 10 this year, when the Taliban and ethnic Uzbek fighters carried out a deadly attack on the country's biggest airport in Karachi. Now, the Pakistan Government has all of a sudden decided to eliminate extremists based in volatile North Waziristan and launch Operation Zarb-e-Azb or "Strike of the Prophet's Sword". Jun 23, 2014
