Kashmir dances to its first internet android radio channel

Srinagar, Feb 17 (ANI): The first android-based radio FM channel in Jammu and Kashmir is bringing in more listeners day by day. City FM JK was started in December 2014 by 28-year old mass communication graduate, Tariq Ahmad Salfi, and aimed specifically at the local audience. The radio station in Srinagar operates from a small room equipped with modest equipment like laptops and the odd sound mixer. But days after it was launched, Salfi was informed by his technical team that City FM JK radio waves had even penetrated other countries including the UK., US., Austria and Russia. Salfi has sold his car and invested a lot of his money in his humble project, one he says may be fast becoming at par with radio channels of business tycoons. He says his channel can also be an opportunity for employment in the valley. Despite poor internet connectivity in Kashmir, his local audience has grown; many claim his channel stands apart.
