Mumbai/ Pune, Jan 27 (ANI): In a rare honour, Maharashtra government has decided to accord a state funeral to legendary cartoonist RK Laxman, creator of the iconic :The Common Man". Laxman died at the age of 94 after suffering multi-organ failure. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who will attend the last rites of Laxman said that the state government will build a memorial for the late cartoonist. Meanwhile, Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said that the nation has lost the voice os common man with RK Laxman. The legendary cartoonist, who immortalized the hapless 'Common Man' with his devastating swipes at politicians, passed away on Monday at a city hospital after suffering multi-organ failure. Politicos offer their condolences over the demise of legendary cartoonist RK Laxman

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Politicos on Tuesday mourned the death of eminent cartoonist RK Laxman, whose "You Said It" cartoon featuring the 'Common Man' lampooned India's powerful for half a century. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that it is a great loss to the country. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar also expressed his grief over the demise of Laxman. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore and BJD leader Jay Panda also expressed similar sentiments. According to media reports, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend the last rites of Laxman, who will be accorded the state funeral in Pune. Indian cartoonists mourn death of RK Laxman

Pune/ Mumbai/ New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Indian cartoonists mourned the death of eminent cartoonist RK Laxman, whose "You Said It" cartoon featuring the 'Common Man' lampooned India's powerful for half a century. Laxman had been ill for two weeks and died of multi-organ failure at a private hospital in Pune city where he lived. Laxman's daughter-in-law Usha said that his body would be taken to Mumbai city to the Common Man statue where his admirers could pay their last respects. Indian cartoonist, Sudhir Tailang said that Laxman's demise was a major loss to the cartooning world.
