Ahmedabad/ Lucknow/ Amritsar/ Birbhum/ Jhansi, April 30 (ANI): Eighty-nine Lok Sabha seats spread over seven states and two Union Territories are observing polls in seventh phase of General Elections on Wednesday. These include all 26 seats in Gujarat, all 13 in Punjab; 17 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, nine in West Bengal , seven in Bihar and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Some of the prominent BJP candidates contesting in this phase are its PM candidate Narendra Modi, LK Advani, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti. Also, prominent Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Madhusudan Mistry, Capt. Amarinder Singh and Sriprakash Jaiswal are contesting in this phase. Vadodara, April 23 (ANI): Congress candidate in Vadodara Madhusudan Mistry has been clouded in controversies for publishing an allegedly defamatory pamphlet against BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi. Thereafter, police had registered a complaint under various sections of IPC. Mistry, sitting on a dharna, opposed the complaint saying that he should not be particularly targeted as the pamphlet was distributed from the party’s side in entire Gujarat. He also stated that he was sitting on a dharna to make people aware. The pamphlet accuses Modi in the context of corruption and also refers to the snooping scandal involving a young woman architect. BJP Mahila Morcha protests against Madhusudan Mistry for remark on Swaraj

Vadodara, April 14 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahila Morcha on Monday hit out at Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Vadodara Madhusudan Mistry for his alleged "loose and vulgar statements" against BJP's senior leader Sushma Swaraj. Gujarat BJP Mahila Morcha President Jyotiben Pandya slammed Mistry for using derogatory terms for a woman. Earlier, BJP had complained to the Election Commission, seeking action against Madhusudan Mistry for his statements against Sushma Swaraj. In its complaint, the BJP alleged that Mistry's statement is "vulgar and intended to tarnish the image of a woman who herself is an elderly person". The party has accused Mistry of making statements contravening provisions of the Model Code of Conduct, the Representation of People's Act (RPS) and the Indian Penal Code.
