Kollywood Stages Hunger Strike in Support of Jayalalithaa

Former TN CM J.Jayalalaitha was put behind the bars over disproportionate asset case. She has been sentenced to four years in jail, besides a Rs 100 crore fine. Members of Tamil Film Exhibitors Association stood by her her. Kollywood operations such as shootings and theatre screenings came to a grinding halt as Kollywood observed a one-day “hunger-strike” protest against the conviction and jailing. Those present included Sarath Kumar, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Suriya, Vikram, Karthi, Sivakarthikeyan, Jiiva, Srikanth and Vikram Prabhu. Jayalalithaa's film industry supporters stage silent protest in Chennai

Chennai/ Bangalore, Sept 30 (ANI): AIADMK Chief Jayalalithaa's supporters in Tamil film industry staged a silent protest in Chennai on Tuesday. Actor Srikanth said that the protest comes in sympathy and solidarity to Jayalalithaa and that the whole of the state look forward to her coming back. Many supporters and party workers have been protesting against Bangalore special court's verdict to put Jayalalithaa behind the bars for four years in disproportionate assets case.
