Tral, Feb 28 (ANI): Security forces killed two militants in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from them. One of the militants has been identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir of the Hizbul Mujahedeen outfit and a resident of Kashmir's Tral district. Reportedly, a search operation was launched by the army and local police of Kashmir's Tral district following specific intelligence inputs. Earlier this week, security forces had gunned down three militants in a similar encounter in Kashmir's Shopian district. Two soldiers and one officer were injured in the gun battle. Feb 28, 2015

Kolkata court extends judicial custody of 11 accused in Burdwan blast case

Kolkata, Feb 01 (ANI): Kolkata court extended the judicial custody of 11 people including two women, accused in 2014 Burdwan blast, till February 13. Two operatives of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh were killed in an explosion while preparing homemade bombs in Burdwan district of West Bengal in October last year. The counsel of National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the blast, Shyamal Ghosh said that a bail application has been filed by one of the accused. Kolkata court sends five accused in Burdwan blast to police custody

Kolkata, Jan 29 (ANI): A court in Kolkata city sent five people, accused in 2014 blast in Burdwan district, to police custody till February 03. Two members of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh were killed in an explosion while building homemade bombs in Burdwan district of West Bengal in October last year. Police in December had arrested a key suspect in the blast who they believed was linked to a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh and stage a coup there. A lawyer of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Shyamal Ghosh said that they needed more time to unearth details of their involvement. Two militants, two security officials killed in encounter in Kashmir

Pulwama, Jan 27 (ANI): Two militants were killed and an army officer and a police constable martyred on Tuesday (January 27) in an encounter in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. A gun battle broke out between the militants and security forces after the latter launched a cordon and search operation in Tral area on a tip off about the militants. The martyred army officer Colonel MN Rai had been awarded a gallantry award just yesterday. Reportedly, the militants belonged to the outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and some arms and ammunition was also recovered from the place of encounter.
